Modern Day Job

Sometimes it can just be hard to breathe. You know the breathing that comes after a middle of the night phone call or test results that are the worst case scenario. The breath that comes when there just aren't words that bring comfort. But what if you look at it as in the story of Job from the bible. What if the trials being given you are because God says "hey Satan want see who can handle it? Want to see who will keep their faith? Go ahead. In fact, from it will come even more glory." Nobody wants to be Job - heck, not even his best buddies wanted to be him - his wife told him basically give up. But what if you are today's Job... how will your story end?

I've watched some amazing friends go through some pretty hard stuff and they have kept walking faith in hand and Savior by their side and isn't that what it is all about.

Sometimes we are just in it to pray...

We were recently matched with a birthmother but at the last minute the little guy was not meant to be ours. Our hearts are grieving - my heart is searching to make sense of all of it but I know that of all the families waiting God chose us to pray. He chose us knowing that in the end there would be heart break. The ending is not what anyone was expecting but while it is an ending in worldly terms it isn't when it comes to my faith. I will forever pray for this little guy and this birthmother and the woman who has come to parent him. I will pray that he would not only live but thrive. I will pray that he will grow to not just know God's love but to feel it. That God's love, His unconditional love, will consume him. That when God calls he will run; not walk but run.

God knew this would end in pain but He still felt that of all the families waiting our faith could make it through this. We are stronger for it and we will not lose hope. My prayer is that every child finds a family that longs for them, that prays in earnest for them, that believes in them. A family that runs when they call out in the night. I am a parent that believes in faith and grace and forgiveness. I believe that when life gets hard we have a savior who knows our pain, who holds us as we cry, who not only sees each tear that falls but wipes them from our cheeks. My hope is built in Christ and I love that. He will not leave me nor forsake me. I'm not sure how much more my "mom" heart can handle but I know that I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. So we will keep waiting and praying and hoping...

While I'm waiting
by John Waller
I'm waiting
I'm waiting on You, Lord
And I am hopeful
I'm waiting on You, Lord
Though it is painful
But patiently, I will wait

I will move ahead, bold and confident
Taking every step in obedience
While I'm waiting
I will serve You
While I'm waiting
I will worship
While I'm waiting
I will not faint
I'll be running the race
Even while I wait

I'm waiting
I'm waiting on You, Lord
And I am peaceful
I'm waiting on You, Lord
Though it's not easy
But faithfully, I will wait
Yes, I will wait
I will serve You while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting
I will serve You while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting
I will serve you while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting on You, Lord
