I think because of that I feel closest to God in times of worship. Songs can energize me, humble me, change me, allow me to feel His presence. A lot of the time they become my prayer. So I pray that today and everyday my lifesong sings of my Savior. That I am a light, that I lift up my desires to Him and follow. That I don't look for the comfort but the end result. That my children see that I believe. That they see that God provides comfort in difficult times and rejoices with us in the good. That when we truly give our lives to Him there is honor in that, not fear. That He is always with us. Always, forever, no matter what.

Let my lifesong sing
We sing all the time in our family - in the car, in the house, before bed, to be silly, when we are sad, when we are rejoicing... I was listening to Sara Groves, one of my favorite artists, speak once and she said that until she got married she thought everyone sang in the car as a family. Um yeah - as soon as the doors shut on our purple grocery getter my whole family would sing. My dad or mom would start and Mary and I would jump in. Maybe throw in some harmony or start a round - we would just sing. When we were scared or sick or sad my mom would come in and sing this amazing song from Peter, Paul & Mary that sings the lines "I'll walk in the rain by your side, I'll cling to the warmth of your tiny hand, I'll whisper all the joys that are mine..." I still sing it to my kiddos.
